To begin class, we did some style analysis. You should pick TWO passages (one from chapter two, the other from two or three) and add them to your assigned Style Analysis Chart in Google Classroom.
Keep in mind: whenever you are reading ATDPI, you should be annotating (in a notebook OR using sticky notes) so that you can continue your Chart when prompted.
After, we did a strategic first read of "Learning How to Code-Switch: Humbling but Necessary". As you read, you should annotate the left side of the text with summary points. What is happening in the text? We will continue to annotate and respond tomorrow.
No homework tonight UNLESS you have not:
1. Read up to chapter four,
2. Completed TWO entires on the Style Analysis Chart,
3. Complete a first read AND annotated the article from class. (PDF here).
Periods 3 and 4:
Go to Google Classroom and complete the guided reading and questions for "The Second Coming" by W. Yeats.
Period 6:
Next, you will be reading James McBride's "Hip Hop Planet" for the first time using GoFormative.
You'll pause as you read to answer the embedded questions in the text.
